The error DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN appears when Chrome cannot translate a domain name into an IP address. NXDOMAIN literally means the domain does not exist as far as your DNS resolver can tell. The cause can be on your device, your network or the website itself.

- Restart your router and device, then try again.
- Flush your DNS cache. On Windows, run
ipconfig /flushdnsin Command Prompt. On macOS, runsudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder. - Clear Chrome host cache by opening
chrome://net-internals/#dnsand choosing Clear host cache. - Change your DNS servers to a public resolver such as Google (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1).
- Turn off VPN, proxy or security software temporarily to see if they interfere.
- Check your hosts file for an entry blocking the domain.
Fixes for site owners
- Confirm the domain has not expired and is active at your registrar.
- Check that the nameservers point to the right provider.
- Verify the A record points to your current server IP.
- If you changed DNS recently, allow time for propagation, which can take up to 48 hours.
